Proof of personhood is a mechanism that establishes an individual’s humanness & uniqueness. It can be thought of as the first & most fundamental building block in establishing digital identity.

Worldcoin does not want to know who you are, just that you are unique.

In the not too distant future, every message or transaction could include a “verified human” property, which would filter out a lot of noise from the digital world. This is what World ID enables.

World App is designed to be accessible. At around 18MB, it's much smaller than the industry average. It's also localized to multiple languages & supports most active smartphones in the world (98% of Androids & 94% of iPhones), including some more than 10 years old.

It’s quickly becoming essential that an inclusive, privacy-preserving solution for proof of personhood be made available as public infrastructure.

More than 200K people have verified their World ID in Chile. That’s over 1% of the population. To help meet demand, project contributors at @tfh_technology have recently started operations in Vina del Mar & Concepcion, in addition to Santiago.

World App uses @safe for all user accounts. This allows for optimizations including the use of MultiCall contracts to batch results from multiple contract constant function calls & amortize the fixed overhead over multiple transactions.

Worldcoin project contributors have developed & open sourced an optimization technique that modifies the Golang contract template of the Groth16 proof verifier in the gnark library to optimize the verifier for both L1 & L2 gas consumption.
